international EUBORDERREGIONS Conference will take place in Tartu, Estonia; 27 – 28 November 2014

The conference is titled "BORDERS, REGIONS, NEIGHBORHOODS:
Interactions and experiences at EU external frontiers" 
and is jointly organised by the EUBORDERREGIONS consortium, the Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation and the Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS) at the University of Tartu.

International Studies Association (ISA) announced a call for papers and panel proposals to be presented at the ISA 54th Annual Convention 'Politics of International Diffusion: Regional and Global Dimensions'.

The conference takes place April 3-6, 2013 in San Francisco and will seek to improve our understanding of regional and global diffusion across several dimensions.

New framework agreement for cross-border cooperation between Finland and Russia has been signed

The new framework agreement replaces the Agreement between Finland and Russia on Cooperation in Murmansk Region, the Republic of Karelia, Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region, dating from 1992.

EUBORDERREGIONS project Workshop III, takes place in Budapest, May 9-11.

The workshop will be followed by the EUBORDERREGIONS conference "Exploring Borders, Cross-Border Co-operation and European Cohesion” on May 12.

Nordic strategy for the people, environment and safety of the Arctic

The Arctic faces huge challenges, and the Nordic Council has issued a call for unity behind proposals for healthy and positive development in the region. At its theme session in Iceland, 22-23 March, the Nordic Council called on the governments of the Nordic countries to draw up a strategy for co-operation on the Arctic.

Call for papers: BRIT (Border Regions in Transition) XII in East Asia: Fukuoka (Japan) - Busan (Korea), November 13-16

The BRIT XII Organizing Committee invites academic researchers and practitioners working on borderlands policy and border studies to participate in the BRIT  Conference, a multi-disciplinary/area studies scientific meeting, taking place in Fukuoka and Busan. These locations provide an ideal setting for further understanding the realities of cooperation and conflict over Northeast Asia’s maritime and land borders.

The 3rd Annual Collaborative Border Management Conference, 27th March 2012 in Brussels

The Conference aims to gather the border control and customs communities alongside EU and international policy makers and stakeholders, to discuss opportunities for collaboration across agencies and institutions involved in border management and how this can support smarter and more secure borders in Europe, particularly in the current economic climate when all actors are required to do more with less.

This publication gives an insight into how cooperation, including the European groupings for territorial cooperation and EU macro-regional strategies, currently works, and what the future may hold.

EU agrees to start trade negotiations witg Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia

The European Commission welcomes today´s decision of the EU Foreign Affairs Council to authorise the opening of trade negotiations with egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia as soon as the necessary preparatory process is completed.  

Peipsi CTC presented a new collection of articles about Transboundary Water Management

At the end of November 2011 Peipsi CTC presented a new collection of articles - "Transboundary Water Management in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Role of NGOs in promoting Integrated Water Resources Management".  

New approach to migration would establish agreements with EU neighbors and other countries benefit th epeople and the countries concerned.

The need for better coordination was highlighted this year when the wave of migrants to EU shores during the Arab spring strained the ability od frontline countries to handle them.

Workshop on Territorial Cooperation in the EU - Call for papers

The university Institute of European Studies (IUEE) is inviting papers for a research workshop on "Territorial Cooperation in the European Union" that will take place in Barcelona (2nd-4th of May 2012).

IX Peipsi Forum takes place on November 23-24 in Tartu, Estonia

07-09-2011: European Congress on E-Inclusion: Transforming Access to Digital Europe in Public Libraries

The second day of theEuropean Congress on e-Inclusion: "Transforming Access to Digital Europe in Public Libraries" (ECEI11) is taking place on Wednesday 7 September 2011, hosted by the Committee of the Regions situated in Brussels.

Delegation of Russian Hanseatic cities cultural managers (from Pskov, Novogorod, Kingisepp) visited Tartu Hanseatic days and 48th Europeade festival on 20-23 July.

The visit takes place within the project "Hanseatic cities: Revived Historical Links for Modern Culture Management", which aim is to establish a practical cooperation platform between Russian and European Hasneatic cities. Project is implemented by Pskov NGO Chudskoi Project, Peipsi CTC, Pskov and Rostock cities.

The European Commission announces biggest ever call for research.

On 19 July, the European Commission will announce the biggest ever call for proposals to fund European research and innovation, totalling around € 7 billion. The main focus of these work programmes is the integration of research and innovation. Particular emphasis has been placed on SMEs.

EC seeks views about Digital Agenda: more open access to scientific information

A public consultation on access to, and preservation of, digital scientific information has been launched by the European Commission. European researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs must have easy and fast access to scientific information, to compete on an equal footing with their counterparts across the world.

Gathering at Anholt Castle (EUREGIO) on 17 and 18 June 1971, 10 border regions agreed to set up a "Standing Conference of European Border Regions". This Conference chose to call itself the "Association of European Border Regions".

Peipsi CTC: Report on Lake Peipsi fishing communities has been completed

In 2010 European Commission has ordered to conduct a study  on the assessment of the status, development and diversification of fisheries-dependent communities in 24 locations areas across the maritime states of the European Union. On of the selected case study regions was Lake Peipsi.
